Announcement of the temporary closure of the JVC Tokyo office and our action against COVID-19

In view of the widespread COVID-19 infections, we have decided to act as follows (as of April 2, 2020):

Staff duty

In order to secure the safety of our staff members, we will close the Tokyo office from April 6 to May 6, 2020. We will continue our work at home and take advantage of online meetings. We ask for your kind understanding and cooperation on this matter.

You can still make donations and shop on our website as usual, but it may take some time for the following procedures:

  • Dispatching of documents or goods from JVC such as the issuance of receipt and materials.
  • Response to postal mail or FAX to JVC such as those regarding invoice and applications.

Please note that you cannot reach JVC by telephone during the closed period mentioned above. In case of inquiry, please ask individual staff by e-mail or send a message to info@ngo-jvc.net.

We apologize for any inconvenience and ask for your kind understanding.

Stop accepting volunteers

We will stop accepting volunteers at the Tokyo office until May 6, 2020. We will announce on our website when we resume accepting volunteers.

Events in the future

We will stop orientations for volunteers from April 11, 2020. We will announce the schedule of future orientations on our website when it is ready. We have no plans to conduct other events in April.

Overseas activities

The governments of our project countries/areas are closing schools or prohibit going out to prevent the spread of infection. We give the top priority to secure the safety of the local people, the staff of our partner organizations, and our overseas staff. We will collect the newest information in each area and decide if we will continue or suspend activities, depending on the respective situations. Likewise, we will decide if we will repatriate our overseas staff in each country/area back to Japan, by considering the degree of spread of infection, medical system, social situation, and the restrictions of emigration and immigration in each country.

We are concerned about the anxiety of our supporters and local people. We hope that you stay healthy and the infection stops spreading and ends as early as possible.
